I am temporarily calling myself a fake blogger, because I don’t blog right now. What I do is post a few blogs here and there, take about six months off, then create 27 rough drafts that never leave the folders on the desktop of my old ass Lenovo laptop.
So yeah; I’m a Flogger (fake blogger). Either way; I’m back, and ready to try this thing for the 6th time. Honestly though, I gave my last relationship like at least 8 tries so I’m doing okay right?
Don’t mind my bad humor please, I swear I’m funnier in person.
What is going on? What am I doing with my life? A couple of questions I’ve been asking myself for the last few months. I graduated a year and a half ago, and so far I’m traveling, working seasonal jobs, and sometimes it feels like I’m living out of my car— but for now this is cool with me.
Growing up in rural Nebraska, sometimes the midwestern traditional views on what I should be doing after college give me the Sunday scaries—every day. I get it, it looks like I need to get my life together. I am, just in a different way than most.
Some might know, but currently I am a seasonal server. I wait tables in Bar Harbor, ME during the summer season and this year I am heading to Florida for the winter. Unconventional maybe, fun as heck and a good way to pay the bills, um yeah.
Honestly, if you’ve ever ventured from the ideas of marrying your high school sweetheart and settling down near your hometown, you might feel like an outcast, or a gypsy. I know I do sometimes. But here’s the thing, this is a fun, lifestyle that still allows me to save money, and travel quite a bit.
In the past year I’ve run a half marathon in Portland, ME, caught a Celtics game in Boston, MA, and FaceTimed my mom from on top of the Empire State building in NYC. I’ve skied down fluffy slopes near Keystone, CO, and eaten a world famous burger beside Lake Erie, in Ohio.
Not to mention, celebrated a friend’s birthday in Bangkok, Thailand, learned to surf off the beaches of Bali, and spent a day wandering around Angkor Wat, in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Okay, how cool is all of that? I think you get the point.
But all of this, and only working eight months out of the year isn’t so bad for this “unconventional” way of living. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with diving into your career and settling down after college—in your hometown or in a different state, I just want everyone to know there’s also nothing wrong with venturing out a little as well.
Soon I’ll post a few more blogs about how I make this lifestyle work. And yes, surprisingly enough I am still saving for a retirement.
The most important thing is to do something you enjoy. Surround yourself with friends, get day drunk on Sunday Funday, stop caring so much about what the “conventional” way of life is and just LIVE.
So here I am, growing and learning in this everchanging world. Trying hard to not try too hard. Taking 257 photos hoping for one good one. Swiping right on Tinder but still single as a pringle. Wishing for perfectly clear skin but eating pizza every other week.
What can I say? I’m in my twenties, I’m living and learning and enjoying every weird experience along the way. You can judge me or join me, either way its cool.
I plan to get back into blogging about all of this a little bit more. I’m going to try to create more of a habit of writing and blogging, so I’ll be posting a blog post every day for 30 days.
Some posts might really be interesting, and others might be just about as dull as the dim lighting in the bathroom of your favorite dive bar, but either way giving this a shot (again).
Just trying to find my voice in a world where sometimes I’m curious as to if any idea is actually new, or unique at all. Either way, I’ve been up to some pretty cool things and think it would be fun to share.

Miss you. Enjoy the adventure.
